It is the country by which you enter the Schengen Area that will issue your visa.

The visa application is not the only document you will have to present to the embassy or consulate of the country in the Schengen Area you are to visit.

 

To apply for a visa, you will have to present the following documents at the consulate or embassy:

Use the standard application form for a Schengen visa.

Present the number of copies asked for.

 

Passport

The passport must remain valid for at least three months after the date of expiry of the visa being requested.

 

Schengen travel insurance

To obtain a visa, you need travel insurance covering the cost of repatriation and emergency medical treatment for at least 30 000 euros. Pass-Schengen-Insurance ® insurance meets the requirements for obtaining a Schengen Visa. The insurance certificate must be presented at the time the visa is issued.

SUBSCRIBE Pass-Schengen-Insurance® to be sure of obtaining an insurance certificate that complies with the requirements of the authorities of the countries in the Schengen Area (the certificate should be printed and sent to the consulate or embassy).

You will need to present documents stating not only the purpose of your visit but also the conditions of your travel.

- Means of transport: for example, a return air ticket, proof of transport by coach or train, etc.

- The purpose of your visit: this may be simplyproof of reservation of a tourist trip, but it could also be an invitation from your

relatives, etc.

- Enough money for your journey: you will need to show that you have enough financial resources to pay for your needs throughout your journey. The requirements are different in the different countries in the Schengen Area, and you should contact the embassies and consulates of the countries concerned for details of these requirements.

- The conditions for your accommodation during your stay, such as, for example, a hotel reservation. In certain cases, the authorities of the countries concerned may require further information from you.
